You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. ~ 1 Corinthians 6:20
I recently came across an old saying, and although the grammar to it would make any English teacher cringe and need therapy, the saying hits the nail on the head. “Be what you is and now what you ain’t. Cause if you ain’t what you is, you is what you ain’t.”
Bottom line for this quote is this: don’t be something you aren’t…be yourself.
So many times we see people in the movies, music or magazines, and we think they have it all, and that we aren’t as cool or as pretty or as hip as they are. But what people fail to realize a lot of times, is that those images (and people) are fake. Magazine covers get Photoshopped; celebrities have people who get paid to “make them look good”. Many models have said that after they see themselves on the cover of a magazine, that they didn’t even recognize themselves. Why…cause it wasn’t “really” them.
Often times we think that just because we don’t like the way we look or whatever, then others won’t either. I have struggled with that all my life. Growing up (and sometimes now) it mattered to me how I was looked upon from others. However, this was not what God had intended for us.
We need to realize that there are only two people who matter when it comes to our self worth: God, and ourselves. That’s it. That is the only to that matter; not what your friends think, your family thinks, your Youth Pastor thinks…just you and God!
You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God values you enough to pay the ultimate price for you…His Son.
Thank God for creating you the way you are, and start basing your self-worth on the fact that you are the apple of His eye.

Good article, Kenny!
